Great weekend here down in misty SoCal. We had 7 athletes racing: Alex “The Moose Alex “The Moose From Belarus,” Jake “The Majestic Horse” Bailey, Sian “The Afterburner” Turner, Guillaume “Road Grit” De Zwirek, Rob “an Ironman Per Day” Gray, Mike “Hacking” Coughlan, Greg “G Funk,” and of course your beloved coach Coady. Thanks to Caroline for all her amazing photos, cheering & TriForce spirit.
Friday we had a team meet up and a few of us stuck around for T2 practice (we still need some work):
I went 4:28 (PR) (3rd in my AG) qualifying for 70.3 world champs Vegas
Rob went 4:46 (PR) despite a flat tire. Rob is AFB on race day.
Jake the Majestic Horse Bailey went 5:30– he’s on track for a strong IMCdA. Gotta love an athlete that celebrates both starting and finishing a race!
Guillaume went 4:49 (PR) and got on the podium for placing 5th in his AG. He ran and biked at a faster speed than his Olympic Distance speed from last summer.
Mike went 5:04 (a massive 21 minute PR)! Stay out of his way!
Alex “The Moose From Belarus” – 6:30 (PR) in his half IM debut despite mechanical bull riding injuries. Great job Alex!
Sian went 5:25 (PR) including a half marathon PR of 1:40 (beating her Kaiser Half time– good job with the run training Sian!), despite getting a penalty for having too much fun on the run.
G Funk goes 6:00:07- missing his goal time by a scant 7 seconds. I hope you didn’t stop at any porta potties! This is an achievement considering that Funk spent a couple weeks in Poland eating nothing but Kielbasa shortly before the race.
Me & Guillaume at Awards / 70.3 Champs Slots show off our trophies
Andy Potts begged to get into a pic w/ me & Guillaume at awards & we were happy to oblige.
Until next year…
